      Hi,
This plugin is used to provide all the backend functionalities of marketpress to the frontend, so that user is no need to login to wordpress’s conventional backend to make any changes. Unfortunately core marketpress plugin does not have any option to create about me page in backend that’s why marketpress frontend plugin can not support ur request too.

I have created a couple of custom fields in the “create new product” page in marketpress. Will these fields also show up in your front end

I guess I am wondering if the front end plugin takes all its data (fields etc) from the existing marketpress installation.

      Hi,
If u r able to see those fields in backend then those should appear in frontend too.

I will check it at my end too and will get back to you.

I’m looking at your demo with an interest in creating an etsy style site – but I don’t want to use the gridmarket theme. You mention in your tutorial that you can use any theme, but the coding that you include looks as though the hooks, etc. relate specifically to the code in that theme. 2 questions:
    1. Can the code in the tutorial be used for any theme as long as Marketpress plugin from WPMUDEV is installed?
    2. Can one use the TT Marketpress plugin on any theme and have it serve its intended purpose?

Thanks much, very interested! Best to you!

    • Buyer
      biglovebazaar says:

yes please! I have changed the serialize function to maybe_serialize to remove the warning but really I’m not sure the impact this has on the functionality. My biggest problem right now is various ‘page not found’ … so far when registering a new site, and creating a new product.

    • Buyer
      urbancartel says:

remove unserialize and the $ sign…. just use (‘blahblahblah’)

I had issues with 404 errors when I first tried so I uninstalled wordpress and then started again with a fresh hosting package .. You need to make sure that your site is in the root directory of your hosting.. I ran through the tutorial step by step again with a fresh set up and it works.. you will find that you do get page not found errors when using the links to the store admin.. have a look at the paths and fix those manually in the php files.. There’s no way you could get it running like mine is without jumping into the code and tweeking a couple of things.. but I guess that will stop alot of rookies having these sites which makes things good for us!

    • Buyer
      marnia says:

Actually, there was no fix… My problem is not solved… I will try perhaps what urbancartel says, although I have regretting paying for this plugin.

Would like to eliminate the “Add New Categories” on the admin area of the create new product page on the sidebar area. I haven’t had a response yet to my question about removing “add new Categories”

    • Buyer
      biglovebazaar says:

Hi eCraft have you had a response yet ? I’d also like to remove this option in the My Store section (and many other options). Ideally the plugin should provide a way to choose what we want store owners to be able to modify.

    • Buyer
      ecraft says:

Nope, haven’t heard anything yet. bummer. There are a few other things I’d like to remove too but my first priority is (add new categories) I was successful editing with firebug but I couldn’t locate the exact place to do the real modification in the real code. I manually scanned every file in the plugin and thought I came close but was hoping one of the developers could help out as it will take me hours and hours of more scanning and trial and error to figure it out by myself as I am not a coder. I’m also wondering about other front end problems like looking for a front end contact form that store owners can “create” on the frontend and include their own email address so buyers can contact the store owner without the store owner ever getting into the wordpress dashboard. All the contact plugins seem to require site owner to have access to the dashboard. What about the wp customer review situation? It seems that I as super admin will have to keep track of all site owners reviews and approve all of them myself. Wouldn’t it be great if site/store owners could approve their own reviews on the frontend?

    • Buyer
      biglovebazaar says:

Ok well I’m looking through the code at the moment (I have coding experience but more in your vbs, powershell type category). I’ll let you know if I find it. I’m actually going to document what I did for each field I remove (a breadcrumb trail so to speak) so I’m happy to share it with you. The closest I’ve found so far is product_category-add references but haven’t chased it down yet.

For the contact you could just paste in a reference to the store owners email and do an old school mailto ? A quick search shows references to $settings['store_email'] so I’m sure you could add a ‘contact seller’ button with code that opens a mailto with the to field set to the store owners email address. Would that do ?

Moderating their own feedback would be a great feature. I’m not using that plug in though. We’re not letting store owners have much control at all past listing products and processing orders.

  18. Buyer
    biglovebazaar says:

Anybody actually getting any response from this seller ? I’ve tried contacting them via numerous methods over the last week and have had no response. Very disappointing considering the plugin requires a bit of coding knowledge to get working properly.

WARNING TO BUYERS : only purchase this if you are able to modify the php files confidently.

    mimorgan3 says:

When I bought this plugin, I was under the assumption that the plugin and the tutorial found at:

    http://mp-frontend.info/category/wordpress-marketplace-tutorial/

    would, as you have quoted:

    “Build an Etsy/Ebay like Marketplace

With a WordPress MultiSite & MarketPress powered site… …and all Front End forms needed to hide WP Dashboard to everyone but you! A Step by Step Tutorial What exactly are we going to do and what do I need to know to start? Assuming you know what WordPress is, how to set it up and work with it, I’ll start explaining in brief what WordPress…”

OK, so I installed the plugin, and it seems to be working fine, as is, however as I stated, I was under the assumption that the tutorial went along with the plugin. When I followed the tutorial, I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/m3999316/public_html/testing/wp-content/themes/gridmarket/header.php on line 41

Can you please assist me? I know you say you don’t support your example, however I spent $47 on your plugin assuming the tutorial was part of the package.

    Thank you.

    admin says:

It was just brought to my attention that few members are complaining that this plugin not working.

I just tested the plugin and it is working 100%.

Some of you may experience problem with the code in the totorial that was offered for free here: http://mp-frontend.info/category/wordpress-marketplace-tutorial/

The tutorial and the plugin are not to be considered the same thing. It should not be considered as part of what you paid.

In the page where you downloaded the tutorial there is written clearly:

Code provided is to be intended as is. This tutorial is only intended as a demonstration of what users can achieve with WordPress and the right set of plugins. It is possibile that the result doesn’t suit all particular requirements one may have, but it’s an excellent starting point to build a great Marketplace.

The developer didn’t answer to your requests, simply because he didn’t write that tutorial at all.

To fix the “unserialize” error, simply remove this line of code from both login.php and headre.php:

    $mp_frontend_settings = unserialize($mp_frontend_settings);

If you are getting other errors such as : Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF it means that the code was not copied over correctly.

    Thanks

      The home page didn’t change.

The only problem I see is that the new page where the front end form is, it’s unstyled, but that I think is because of the framework used.

    1. When I want to change appearance of Store Page (from the Store Settings – Messages Settings) the changes are not visible – I only see the Name defined in the MP FrontEnd. (shortodes and html don’t work) I want to able the substore admins to write some things about their store – now it is not possible.

    2. Is there a way to add contact form to every substore – when people want o ask about the product – message should go straight to the shop owner.

    Waiting for your reply.

      Hi,

      1) You cannot modify the front end page from within marketpress. If you wish to customize that page you need to customize the plugin code

      2) We did it for this site and required writing custom code. If you use a plugin it will send all emails to network admin as it will take email from the template shop. I’ll have to think about a way to wrap our custom code in a plugin, but it’s not an easy thing to do, nor something I will have time to do any time soon.

I understand you don’t offer support but you could at least answer a simple question. I don’t care that you don’t offer support, I am not asking you to fix anything for me just to answer a simple question. Don’t give me this bullshit that I need to hire a professional, I get it, i know how to follow simple fucking steps. Hope that helps.
